Can someone explain to me why we Lutherans wait until 6th grade to receive First Communion while Catholics celebrate this Sacrement in 2nd grade?? Is there a reason? Is it just tradition? I keep getting asked this by my Catholic family members and friends. We attend so many Communions of 2nd graders and I keep getting asked why my daughter who is in 3rd grade hasn't had her Communion yet. We say, "she will in 6th grade" and they are always so puzzled and ask why?? I must admit, I don't know. What should I say next time I'm asked? Thanks!
